By weight, they really seem to be stainless steel. The cutlery is neither small nor fragile; it could be used comfortably at home on a daily basis. The inner coating is not bad, but I think it should be made of a more durable material because it has already arrived marked by the fork teeth and I believe that eventually this plastic will puncture or tear. Overall, I highly recommend it.
